    3D CAD for you cabs?

I've noticed some people are using 3D CAD drawings when planning / presenting their project ideas. is there something free for simple applications like this?

For something more engineering oriented, I've also been recommending Alibre. I have it installed, but I also have a few other things as well, so I don't tend to use it much. The Alibre sales folks will call you a few times trying to get you to buy, but the software trial is definitely free and functional. It's similar to Solidworks, if you've used that before.

If your a student at a University that has a modest amount of engineering, you can probably get SolidWorks for free. I know places like Penn State, Pitt, UKY, VT and others get it for free.

Under deadline pressure for the next week. If you want something, it can wait. Unless it's blind screaming paroxysmally hedonistic...

I second the recommendation for Google Sketch-up. Long ago I used to work with Autocad, Cadkey, and have played with Solidworks. All have a more significant learning curve than sketchup (not to mention the price tag) for those who are not already familiar. Google has online tutorials as well. Updates every few months.

X2. I use solidworks generally but sketchup so so intuitive.
