Help me find drivers for mid-bass arrays

    Current setup-

    Mackie HR824 studio monitors L/C/R
IB subwoofer - four 18" Avalanche drivers

So the IB will cover 10-80hz, midbass 80-200hz, mackies 200-20khz.

For the midbass I want to build a pair of arrays in dipole config.

I'd like to use 4-6 12" drivers in each to minimize the load on each driver and keep the excursion low. What drivers are well suited to dipole use and somewhere in the $50-75 each range?

    thx

Haven't used it yet, but the Peerless SLS 830669 looks like a very good value and should work well in your application.

Look at the Dayton/Parts Express 12 inch RSS315HF 8 ohm.

I am using 2 per side in a dipole with a DIY passive EQ circuit before the crossover and they provide very nice mid bass. I am going from 80 to 250.

Free support for loudspeaker projects, sourcing OEM speaker building supplies, and passive crossover design. We sell raw speaker drivers (tweeters, woofers, subwoofer, midrange drivers, full range drivers), speaker kits, amplifiers, capacitors, resistors, and inductors.

Looks pretty good. Is that my best bet for the $$$?

Any other suitable drivers? Should I consider 8" or 10" drivers?

you wont find a better value than the sls IMHO, except maybe the dayton, wich is twice the price, but also almost twice the excursion.

                Maybe 4 of these:
                RS270

                Or 4 of these:
                RS225-8

How 'bout some JBL pro audio drivers for this application?

They seem to offer plenty of power handling and punch.
There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

My friend mentioned those 8" Daytons and I saw the 10" version while mulling about PE.

For the range I want to run them (~60 to ~250hz), what would be the ideal driver size? Would 12 of the 8" drivers be more than enough for movie reference level? I need something that can keep up with my IB sub. Don't forget I want to do dipole not sealed.
