    Removing carpet from speaker boxes

I probably already know the answer, but I'll ask anyway...

Is it possible to remove the carpet from an automotive subwoofer box for home use, without destroying the box. I ask because Parts Express has Goldwood speaker boxes. I was thinking of a Dayton RS315 with bracing, stuffing, and sealing the vent for home sub applications.

I have cats that are attracted to carpet, so leaving them as is won't work.

    Thanks,
    John

Tearing it off or removing it with a heat gun you'll have a mess. So just say no to this idea.

I have in the past removed the carpet, and then used a sander to take off all the rest. So it can be done.

        Thanks.

It looks to be less work to just build the boxes, but it just seems like such a great deal. Oh well.

Well, if them refers to the cats, they could be declawed :W :W

............but that's probably not what you had in mind.

Forget mucking around with carpet covered sub boxes and (as suggested above) build exactly what you need from scratch.

Once you figure in shipping for a Goldwood box, it may not be such a bargain either.
