    Recommended Audio Literature?

I've been looking into expanding my DIY library lately and was hoping to get some recommendations. I already have the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook and found it helpful. I have a fair background in physics and what I'd call advanced knowledge of electronics, so I'm looking for something more advanced. What else would you recommend? Links would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

IMO a must read for anyone in this hobby is

"Master Handbook of Acoutics" by F. Alton Everest

using google links won't be hard to find.

I have since many years the cookbook, High performance loudspeakers (Martin Colloms) and "Master Handbook of Acoutics".

The Master Handbook being by far the most "essential" IMO.

        Thanks!

Thanks guys. I see the Master Handbook is under $30 too which is great. Some other books I was looking at were over a hundred bucks.

Does anyone know of a good book on audio measurement techniques, and also one on active/passive filter design? I do have the Active Filter Cookbook. I'm buying the Master Handbook for Acoustics, as well.

Testing Loudspeakers by D'Appollito is good for a measurement background

Are there any books that will give a background on crossovers (how to design your own, etc)?

Loudspeaker Design 201. It is very good at the basic level. Though, one must understand that most of the design conversation around here is well, well above the basic level.

Excellent. I plan on getting all three of the books mentioned...and any others that are suggested.

Ryan, do you mean Speaker Building 201?

I think we need to make a sticky with the list of books as this question gets asked A LOT.

Ah yes! Going from memory, always a bad idea.

If I may, I'd like to piggy-back on this thread and inquire about very entry level books on speaker design. My 14 yr old nephew has become very interested in speakers recently, and I wanted to get him a book and sub driver to experiment with for Christmas. I don't think he's ready for the Cookbook yet (too much math). Any recommendations?

                              Thanks,

                              Jonathan

Radio Shack as a couple elementary books, otherwise go with Speaker Building 201
