Northern California DIY meet Oct 20

    Hey all,

We're trying to get a diy going for October 20th. I'll be there with some measurement equipment, and, of course, my display model dipole... :W That is, it won't likely be working. Although maybe I'll have SE or lspCAD emulation working for it. Unfortunately, there is only one. Back to mono... The venerable RS22528A's will be there.

If you're at all interested, email Charlie and let him know you're interested, and if you can bring anything.

There's also a diy in the Bay area Oct 21, the burning amp festival. Catchy name. They beat us there... If you had any reason to finish those projects, now is the time...I may try to get to that one too.

See the meetings page at claub.net for more info.

Jon, as usual, will probably be in Stockholm or Singapore...

Sounds like a lot of fun. You're dipole project has my full attention, but don't worry, I'm willing to wait until 2009 to see it completed. :B

Actually, I think not, this time.... maybe I can rent something with more cargo space than my NSX and get up there...

You know, like a Delorean hatchback? I hear they're going back in production, built in the good ole US of A....

The Delorean is being resurrected? It would be cool if someone like him made an electric car (or plug-in hybrid).

I am very interested, since I am finishing up my Translam project. Do we have any details on whether it is happening, where,... etc. Please let us know.

                      Back to the future.....

The iconic gull-winged sports car is once again hot, and there are plans afoot to place it back in production.

And, insult to injury... a month late for Octoberfest!!! Not to mention, NC rather than going to Munich!!!

I'm still thinking about it... will try to make it. Hope some last minute change will cancel the biz obligation, Jon. After all, all us Jon's should get together and raise a glass sometime., as well as go to great DIY events...

No kidding. At least I'm still on for RMAF in Denver mid October.

I've only been to Octoberfest a couple of times- it is fun, and I love the roast chicken the Germans do for the fests. They brine it of course, so it's probably not particularly healthy, but boy does it taste good. Beer's not all that bad, either. :W

Let's see, if it's Tuesday, this must be Houston and HP today....

Wait, what's up? Is the "Burning Amp" thing on Sunday in San Francisco still on? I didn't pay yet, but I think I'm going to make it there.

Take lots o' pics for us who can't make it...

I did much soul searching... but have been in beaten by sticks mode at work.. didn't have the side trip to friends I hardly see nowadys not pan out, and the get fellow local speakergeek friend to come with plan also didn't pan out either.
So, it would have been the solo drive, 900 miles, and I had to work till 6:30pm Friday, emergency situation, and back by Monday morning.

Didn't plan on buying a plane ticket a few weeks back, and figuring how to ship some heavy speakers so they would make the trip dingless....

Enough moaning... you guys have a great time... and tell us all about it!

I made it over there, and I had fun.

I also got a HiVi M8N driver out of the raffle.

Very cool. I enjoyed being able to observe Mark K's measuring demonstration. I just wish I had a completed project to bring and get tested.

The MTM towers/MTM center/MT surround stand mount setup was impressive, in my opinion. I must say I was more interested in the measuring demo this time, vs the listening sessions. I enjoyed that more last time I went, in the Spring. There are advantages and disadvantages to increased attendance at such an event.

There were many more people in attendance, this time.

Thank you so much to all the organizers and operators of this meet. All your work is very appreciated! ;x(

I wish there was a cool meet like these around here. Not much of anything in PA. Certainly nothing compared to the Cali or Iowa events.
