diy subwoofer usin PE prefab boxes

first off is the tc-9 still the best value around?

looks like the 15 would be a good match with this guy and some stuffing

any type of dsp that I should look at/ research for a sealed box

    thanks

That's a pretty reasonable combo, the sort of thing I've thought of doing as a stop gap with my HE-15 subwoofer, primarily for size. A Linkwitz transfrom is the basic of what you need, can be implemented with off the shelf equalizers or DIY PCB's.

Whether it's the best value depends on what your specific needs and limitations are- for the same money, I'd buy two PE RS390HF. You'd wind up with about 33% more swept volume, much lower Le, and probably a skosh lower distortion, especially in the upper part of the range. But if you have space constraints, that obviously wouldn't be as good a choice, for example.

Something like the Dayton HSPA500 plate amp with built in EQ might do the job nicely on a budget, though for ultimate sound quality and flexibility you might find quality separates a better choice. A bang for the buck starting point might be the Behringer A500, but thte EP1500 has a bit more grunt, though be careful NOT to use the infrasonic filters- they're too high in frequency for HT subwoofer applications.

I like the heavier duty home HiFi amps for sub duty, because they usualy have stiffer power supplies and an edge in SQ, but a used Aragon on Audiogon is spendy compared with a new low cost "Pro" amp. The other factor is fans- the noise issue.

I'm sure others with a more active involvement on subs will chime in with even better ideas.

You could do a lot worse than a couple of the RS390HF in the 3 cu ft enclosures underneath your Maggies, and I beleive they would be easier to integrate with the "speed" of the Maggies than the TC -Sounds sub drivers or other longer throw 15's.
