    3D CAD files for SS6600, RS28A-4 & RS52 available!

    Hi All
    I have recently purchased some SS6600, RS28A-4, RS52, RS180S, RS225S
    and have completed 3D models for SS6600, RS28A-4, RS52.

The RS180S and RS225S will be done shortly.

The files are available in Solidworks 2007 format or IGES 5.3

I can export to other formats so hit me up for a different file type if you need.

I have used metric for the models as it appears that they are all metric parts anyway.

The models are reasonably accurate but dont go cutting wood until you have the speaker in your hands.

If you have any problems please let me know.

    You can find them at.

Cool! But I do not use 3D modelling . Metric is fine with me.

Very cool- probably more detailed than we builder really need, but definitely a nice exercise in modeling. Thanks for sharing

Export to SketchUp would be nice, if possible.n Thanks.

I'll look into it. Seems that sketchup doesn't import too many standard file types. I might be able to bridge the gap with rhino or 3dmax.

Sketchup is somewhat limited, so I can see it not being easy to get a solidworks model into it. If not possible, not a big deal.

Thanks, John! my tools can import either version; they're nice models.

Now I'm looking forward to making some progress after I get back from overseas biz travel mid June, because my schedule is shifting to a more "normal" work life with a week off every month for the next six months- mandated by my boss's boss. (actually a cost cutting measure; they want folks like me (as well as the rank and file) to start using up the bazillion hours of vacation I've accrued because of rarely having time off and flat refusing to do 20-40 hours work on a "vacation" week anymore.

Time to make CAD files, sawdust, and Corian dust!

Just added RS180S to the site.
So I only have RS225S to go.
The I might try to convert the models to more formats

                    Hi All
I have performed some simple impedence tests on my three SS6600
They are overlaid in Red, Green & Blue.
Looks like good consistancy between units.
I'm not sure about all the ripples in phase from 1K5 Hz upwards but
it doesn't appear in my RS28 tests so it not my humble test setup.

I'll post some more tests like distortion when I figure out how to do them.

I can provide the data behind these tests if anyone want it.

Nice Job, John! I bet there's a good future for you in the Imperial CAD services - imports just fine into ViaCAD, too.

You're saving me some substantial work for documenting the new Universal HT Three Way design and variants (otherwise known as the CC three way with RS52). :W

After a long pause I have just added RS225S-8 to the website.

Well thats all the drivers I own so unless someone convinces me to buy
some other new great driver that will be it for a while.

Please let us know if you have any trouble.

Now if I can only find enough time to do my M8ta.

By the way, have you considered sharing your models on 3dcontentcentral.com? They would be a great addition to the site...the speaker selection there is a bit lacking.

Right, so the models are more complex than they are accurate. I do use digital calipers and the important dimensions should be OK. It's hard to get too carried away with accuracy for production items because the production tolerance becomes noticeable. ie The driver diameter might measure 225.4mm but we all know it's a 225mm driver and the .4 is just paint and production variation.

What is differenent in these models is the cosmetic features like the spider. Now for this I did some measurements but then tweaked it to look right rather than be .1mm perfect. The curve on the cone is a complete guess, I dont have a 3D scanner to measure it. Most people won't make the model this complex because it's not useful in an engineering sense. I just do it for fun. It may help to estimate the volume of displaced air however.
