I have two AV15's, but I don't plan on getting rid of them.

You're not likely to find one. If you have any doubts, find Steve Callas or Sherve over at AVS and ask them about the great lengths they went to to get theirs.

Is there no equivalent unit available?

The popularity of the Ave drivers was primarily a function of the low pricing, when Chad decided have a fire-sale given the issues with Adire and XBL^2.

There certainly are comparable if not better drivers available from other suppliers.

There are very few drivers if any within such a price range that rival the Avalanche, for starters I have never even found another driver with such as low FS as well as the actual sound quality.

But that is irrelevant now, because even if you were able to find one, it wouldn't be priced at the sale price which Thomas is referring to.

It isn't quite irrelevant because it remains to say the driver rivals the best out today at a price not far off the sale price. Anyways, anyone got one ? ?

                  matt,
Adire audio owns the xbl2 motor technology patent. Ascendant was paying royalties for the technology, as well as several other manufacturers (older Resonant Engineering drivers and a few other manufacturers but I can't think of them right now). Adire makes the Tumult model line which is based on the xbl2 motors, albeit, a little more expensive than the avalanches.

Tumult a little more expensive? They're twice the price - I'm not sure the Ava15's were even 300 before the sale.

btw, they should be referred to as "Ava". Calling them "AV"-xx's is about as bad as distinguishing between the Soundstream "XXX" or the Re "XXX" on the Termpro forums. Man, I'm anal.

You're completely right, its an "Ava" not an "AV" which could easily be confused for AE Speaker's AV 15 driver.

I wasn't actually trying to be technically correct, infact I didn't even know there were 'official' shorthand names, I was just making my own abreviation

There's one up for sale on ebay right now. New in box at that.

Your best bet is to keep a close watch on EBay and maybe you will get lucky. :T

                                    I guess I should have sold matt my 2 AV15's for $300+ each and bought 4 of the pre-production Mach5 18's.
