2.5 way dipole hybrid...

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a 2.5 way style open baffle.

The top woofer would be in an open baffle configuration with the tweeter and the .5 woofer would be covering "bass" duties.

Just wondering if the idea (probably not a new one) has any merit for a small music system using the TB 5" poly woofers and the D26 tweeter.

Sort of.. The rear speakers of my elcheapo HT setup have this config.
The drivers are 4", the top two as an mtm U-frame, the bottom 2 in a vented cab to give more bass response.

You are describing exactly what I want to build next. I will use the 0.5 for BSC as it usually is done. I have some Seas 4-ohm dirver that I will use in series with capacitance to ground to roll off the 0.5 at the desired rate vs. using a inductor. This method helps me keep the impedance up.

I'm really liking the idea of two 5" tb poly drivers in this configuration, maybe having the bottom one in a tl just for kicks...
