    What Good Are Shielded Drivers?

All I know about shielded drivers is that they minimize CRT picture distortion "but" also that they have somewhat differant T/S parameters than their faternal twin(non shielded sibling of same model). This naturally would call for some consideration when designing a crossover, but are there any other pros and cons to shielded drivers?

If CRT displays are not a problem should one stick to non shielded drivers?

They increase BL slightly and decrease Qes, making for a stronger motor. This can decrease box size somewhat if that is a concern, at the expense of bass extension. Sensitivity goes up with the higher BL and may require crossover adjustments.
