    introduce myself and dipole question!

    hi there!!

i'm fred from france, since a few days i read a lot of thread about dipole here and it seems there are some expert on this subject......
so,i've got a question for them....it's purely theorical, but i want to have your advice on the mixing of a dipole radiation for the low freq (to about 1khz or more, for exemple)and a omni radiation for the hi(unbaffled tweeter)
what are the plus or the minus?
    excuse my poor english
    and have a good day!!!

It might be interesting, but on priniciple, I see some problems-

In general, I find the most natural sound occurs when the power response and on axis response are both very smooth and track well with each other.

What you're proposing is combining a figure 8 bass to midrange response pattern (controlled, limited dispersion) with omni-directional high frequencies. This will tilt the room power repsonse toward the top end, and in general result in a lot more reflections in the room and transmission of your listening room acoustic, rather than reproducing the recording acoustic.

personally, I don't favor that, but some people do like that, especially if you don't sit in the listening position that delivers best imaging of the recording, but just use it for background listening.

Still, I think a frequency response imbalance will result.

    Just my opinion.
