    Line array combing

just for fun I thought I'd play around with a little java applet I found while looking for some water stuff.

I set up 12 equally placed sources and then altered the wavelengths. Used 2x distance apart, 1x , 0.75x, 0.5x and 0.25x.

The effects can be seen on the image linked below, and adds weight to Jim's work about line arrays.

The worst cases seem to be around 0.75 and 0.5 wavelength of the distance apart. I doubt anyone could notice the intensity differences at 0.25x wavelengths, but maybe

Anyway, for those who want to play, I've also provided the applet link.. Enjoy !!!
