The real problem is finding a good flux capacitor with the right dielectric, so that you don't wind up in an alternate future timeline (like sliders) due to dielectric absorbtion and timeline flux drift... makes picking a good tweeter capacitor look easy in comparison...

Going by your avatar Jon, you'd be the unquestionable expert on this (too).

The thing is, given the jiggawatts of power required, to really make a flux capacitor work properly in the home you need a Mr. Fusion -- dump in a beer can along with its dregs, press the button, and voila, jiggawatts.

Well running off garbage is great if you're lucky enough to have gotten a Mr Fusion before they sold out at PE. But now that PE is out of stock the rest of us will have to make due with buying plutonium off of terrorists. The rumor on the PE board about is that the Chinese manufacturer stopped producing the Mr Fusion because of some basic chip shortage. Evidently they won't start production until they can find an alternate supplier. PE has their next shipment listed sometime in 2025.

I heard that if you bypass the flux capacitor with sonicaps, you can pin down your target arrival time to tenths of a second, instead a minute, plus or minus. Plus when you get there, everything looks clearer.

Another well known tweak is to line the Delorean's floorboards with blackhole 5... your arrival is much better damped, with less 'bounce-back' (a tendency to arrival at a certain time and then momentarily bounce to a slightly different time... which is seen by those in the time in which you arrive as a series of rapid appearances and disappearances).

One does assume the flux capacitor is well wired-in... using OFC as a minimum. Pure silver is of course the real ticket, creating better energy transfer and guaranteeing that you won't have a nasty metallic after-taste from your time travel.
