    Top-firing short sonosub?

I haven't seen this before so I thought I'd ask. The place I have to put a sonosub is in sort of a corner, but worse, there's a cabinet and other things on the floor crowding that corner. I thought since I am not making a tall sonosub, how about if the driver is top-mounted? That would fire out into the open air above all the mess. Or with these frequencies do I really need to worry about "crowding" the sub?

(I know, the real answer is "different design, better location", but I'm still curious.)

I don't think up-firing will be any worse. With your situation, it will probably be better. I think people mostly use the down-firing configuration to protect the driver from getting drinks set on it or being poked at. You'll have the port going out the bottom (assuming vented design), but I don't think this will be a problem.
