    20W non-inductive resistors

    Need two 4 Ohm 20W and one 8 Ohm 20W non-inductive resistors but can't find any online. Does anyone know where to get them?

    Thank You,
    Mark

    Series/parallel

    You can add resistors in series or parallel to handle the power you need. Here's a place to get 10 watt resistors:

    You could use two 8 ohm resistors in parallel to get your 4 ohm 20 watt resistor, and two 16 ohm resistors in parallel to get your 8 ohm 20 watt resistor. I like adding them in parallel rather than series because I can just twist the leads together, and it's easier to arrange on the board.

      Parallel two 10W resistors to handle 20W. Two 8 --> 4. Two 16 --> 8.

      Edit: nevermind, Joe beat me to it.

        I knew this was a noob question didn't know how to go about it.

        PS: Caps done in series works the same right?

        Thanks again.

          Right although power handling isn't usually a problem with caps. It's more common to use caps in parallel where the values simply add. That's handy to build odd values, like parallel a 15uF and a 2uF to get a 17uF.
