My DMM is showing about .3 ohms contact resistance when measuring DCR - both my new Seas woofers and tweeters measured exactly .3 ohms above spec. Is this typical? Should I clean my probe tips and if so, how? Should I get this recalibrated? My not-so-genius bought this DMM off ebay NIB but not through an authorized dealer, should I send it in for a calibration? It's a Fluke 177.

If I understand your question, it has been a while since I used my DMM but if I remember correctly whenever I am measuring a driver's DC resistance I first connected the leads together to get the resistance of the leads only. Then I measured the driver's DC resistance and subtracted out the lead's value to get only the driver's voice coil. I think that is kind of a standard trick and I believe my meter has a 0.4 ohm lead resistance, so your value sounds about right.Martin- Bottom

I know some metres need to be set to tab as I recall. This is accomplished by holding the two leads together until 0 appears. I've also used ones that needed to set to 0 manually with a dial at the bottom of the metre while holding the leads together. then there is full scale deflection as well. All measurements are + or - a certain amount too. All depends on the accuracy of the metre.- Bottom
