    Tweeter on front, sidefiring midwoofers

Would this be a feasible way to build a 2-way:

Having only the tweeter on the front and two sidefiring bipole midwoofers the looks of the speaker would at least be special. Would this kind of design require a low crossover point or will the sidefiring woofers produce sufficient upper midrange / lower treble energy to the listener?

    What do you think?

Unless you can cross the tweeter over at like 200Hz, then I probably wouldn't do it.

      Maybe it's a dipole/bipole midwoofer with a side-firing ambience tweeter

Humm, that's maybe a bit extreme. E.g the Audio Physic Kronos is only sidefiring up to 250Hz from where the coaxial unit takes over and side and front firing between 250-500Hz:

But oh well, no traditional tweeter will go even close to that. Maybe a dome midrange might make it to ~500Hz, but even that might be not low enough. I wonder who pays $18k for the glass box.

The Kronos is rated to 10hz on their site...with 4 10's? Lolz!

I haven't measured a side firing woofer, but all the recommendations I read are in the 100Hz-200Hz range. Thomas is just on the conservative, demand-the-best-sound side of the spectrum

How high you can cross a woofer in this situation would depend on the diameter of the woofer and the proximity to the tweeter. Smaller woofers that are closer to the woofer can cross higher without ill effects. Here's one example:

Siegfried Linkwitz uses a 5" driver up to about 1khz, pointed at the ceiling.
