    On vacation until 5/19

I'll be out of town until Friday May 19th, and will have limited net access (dial-up via a long distance connection, from the mountains near the continental divide). So play nice and I'll check-in if/when possible.

Vacation? What's that? Don't worry, I'll look it up in the dictionary, my Mac has the American Oxford Dictionary....

vacation |vāˈkā sh ən; və-| noun
1 an extended period of recreation, esp. one spent away from home or in traveling : he took a vacation in the south of France | people come here on vacation [as adj. ] | a vacation home. • a fixed holiday period between terms in schools and law courts.
2 the action of leaving something one previously occupied : his marriage was the reason for the vacation of his fellowship.
verb [ intrans. ] take a vacation : I was vacationing in Europe with my family.
DERIVATIVES vacationer noun vacationist |-ist| noun
ORIGIN late Middle English : from Old French, or from Latin vacatio(n-), from vacare ‘be unoccupied’ (see vacate ).

Ohh, I see now. I think that's one of those forbidden activities where I work. Even has an email censor that strikes the word from any internal communication, or changes it to "business trip".

But I though "retirement" was permanent vacation, anyway?

Well dial-up via a long distance phone card connection in a little mountain town is a joke. I found a computer shop where the owner will let me connect to his high-speed line for $8//hr which seems like a bargain. Will go over there tomorrow after breakfast and see what everyone's up to.....

              Later from 8200'

                Thomas,

We love you man, but unplug! You don't need our silly questions on your vacation.

Looking forward to having you back though.

Hmmmm.... 8200' elevation. Might be Victor or Cripple Creek, maybe even Leadville possibly. He hasn't been gone a couple of days and I'm jonesin' for his wisdom already. Enjoy your vacation, both from work and from us!

                      Thomas,

You're a veritable fountain of wisdom around here. We all totally appreciate all your help. Maybe we can even meet up sometime if/when I'm out Denver way some time. But seriously, unplug for a little while! We'll be OK. We'll look both ways before crossing the street. We won't talk to any strangers. We'll be back by the time the street lights turn on. :P

Please, unplug, relax, and we'll talk lots of DIY audio when you get back. Have a great vacation! :T

We were outside Granby and took a little trip into Rocky Mtn National Park.......Here's a pic of the "Never Summer Range". The highest peaks are 10' short of 13,000'. I took the picture from the opposite valley, standing on Trail Ridge road, the highest paved road in the world....

I wanted net access for reasons other than the forums. I was downloading Google Earth images and cross referencing them with my laptop GPS maps ....

Now that brings back memories. There is a radio station in Granby, I forget the call letters, that I used to be Chief Engineer for a number of years ago. The surrounding area is breathtaking! Have fun!
