    RS mids/shielding

Is the shielding cap on the RS mids removable? I would like to use the RS150 in an inwall application but I am short on depth so I was wondering if someone could help me out. And if it is removable is it going to help at all with depth issues.

Um, did you know there are unshielded 4-ohm versions of the RS drivers designed for car use? They eliminate the shielding cup and bucking magnet for shallower mounting depth, which sounds like what you're looking for. They are 4-ohm though, so that might be a barrier. Otherwise, check out diymobileaudio, where some folks did in fact 'de-buck' some of the RS drivers.

The driver parameters are otherwise slightly different as well.

I believe people have managed to remove this. Understand that it will tweak T/S parameters (response too I think).
