Well, I only have one finished right now, but it seems to sound pretty good. I need to get the other one done this week and run some FR tests to see how they are in room.

Very cool! What kind of paint did you use and how was it applied?

          Thanks

Its duplicolor truck bed coating, oddly enough. Its pretty much a textured black paint, but its pretty rugged when fully dried. It does take awhile to fully dry, but it goes on very easily without runs, covers up minor imperfections, and IMO looks very nice. Its no piano finish, but the time involved is quite alot less. I dont think I would ever have the patience to do a piano black enclosure, much less being careful enough not to scratch it later on moving them around. It still requires a fairly well prepped surface, but nowhere near that of regular paint.

I bought a rattle can of this stuff a week ago and tested it on some scrap. So far it looks good to me.

Can you tell me what quality or brands of crossover parts came with the kit? I emailed Ascendant a while ago and never got a response. Also, I noticed you have some Onix Rocket boxes in the back ground, which model do you have and how do these compare to the Ascendant speaker.

P.S. I also think the paint on your cabinets look pretty nice.

                  Thanks,
                  Topp

I bought my own crossover parts. Jantzen 18ga coils & solen caps. The parts that come with ascendants kit are supposedly decent quality, off the shelf stuff from PE. Im not sure that AA even has any of the kits left, just the poly woofers.
Ive got a pair of ELT's, they are nice for the price I got them for (130). Bass is rolled off in the smallish box, and the highs are fairly crispy. I like the xt tweeter better. Ive got them running ht use right now, and they work very well for that use with a sub.

Yes, this comes in a spray can. Its not at all rubberized like you would expect.
It has a nice hard finish that I think should take abuse very well.

Just finished the other speaker, did a quick listen to them. They seem to image very well, and the xt25 has a nice sound IMO. Ill have to listen to them some more and evaluate them further, but initial impressions are good for the price.

I'm using the same stuff as you, how many coats did you put on to your speakers?

It doesnt take much, it goes on pretty thick. I had grey primer underneath, so I put on enough to cover that up. Probably about two heavy coats total. A can is only enough to do one speaker, and the stuff is like 8 bucks a can.

I was finally able to find the specs on this tweeter.

They are a bit directional in the highs

Since this tweeter is very as cheap as $33 in Madisound, I am interested.
But, it had not obtained the good mark by the test of Mark K.
By the way, in the M8a project, XT25 is used in the Network circuit of a 1.25kHz crossover.
As what crossover frequency should this "Logic XT25" be set using a sharp bend?

(P.S. I was not reading this thread)

Did you ever finish the other one & run your FR tests? Any more comments on them?
