TV stand/center channel question

I've been reading(probably just enough to get into trouble) and was wondering something. If I built a new TV stand to go along with the speakers what do I need to keep in mind? The CC will be below ear level so it will have to angle up some.

Something like a cabinet with glass front doors(below the CC) or is that really bad?
Maybe something with just enough depth for the TV and the CC on a stand in front of it?
Or something kinda open like I have now but with a spot to put the CC under the TV? Setup vertical with the equipment on the sides of the CC instead of under it?

Why not build yourself a nice equipment rack above the sub or something of that sort?

glass is highly reflective, so any center near that will be having itself a less ideal living space. You would pretty much want a version with no baffle step as well.
