High impedance monitors

I am looking to build a set of monitors to be driven by a Panasonic SA-XR55 in biamp mode. the consensus on this receiver is that it does not like lower impedance speakers, as the resulting sound can be harsh because of the way the amp ineracts with the impedance. Panasonic specifies that the load be in the 6-8 ohm range. I wanted to do some MTM's but cannot find any that don't hover around 4-5 ohms. The Modula MT's seem to fit the bill nicely. Are there any other monitor designs of at least the MT's sound quality that you could recommend? Any MTM's?

Load impedance sensitivity can be a problem, because many of the better tweeters are in the 4-6 ohm range, partly to get the sensitivity up. .

Take a look at MarkK's compact 8" two way based on the RS225 and RS28a. It's sort of a scaled down version of the M8ta, which in some incarnations/variants uses the higher impedance Seas tweeters (like the Millenium excel). You could always build that into a smaller enclosure (like Mark's) or into a simpler tower.





But even that one dips to around 5 ohms in the mid bass and 1-3 kHz area.

MTMs wtih higher impedance require special midwoofers made with higher VC impedance- even then, they're usually not over 10 or 12 ohms each, so finished speaker impedance is around 5-6 ohms nominal- as are most so called 8 ohm speakers.

Here's an MTM. I think it comes out at 8 ohms. I didn't read through the description though.
