type of speakers and placement - what do yo think?

    hi all,

please see attached a copy of the cabinet we wish to have made for our av gear (everything on right of tall laundry cabinet will be new). what do you think?

    big question here is:

    1. do we place the speakers above bench as shown using b&w 705, HTM7 and ASW 700?

    or

    2. do we hide all the speakers in the underbench cabinet using speaker screen at front, giving the unit a 100% stealth look? of course this will mean different speakers and perhaps a compromise in sound quality but may look more aesthetically pleasing.

    comments please.

The speakers will have to be custom made or modified. Any you buy in a store aren't designed to be that close to a wall. As a result the electronics inside (called the crossover) will have to be modified or they're sound bass heavy/chesty.

They may also become muddled and sloppy sounding. Male vocals in particular can become very difficult to understand if a speaker with any amount of baffle step built in is placed in a cabinet or in a wall.

I wanted suggestions on my new speaker placement. The new Paradigm 20's are heavier, and bulkier than my Athena's, and I'm not sure I trust wall mount brackets. Please give me any ideas you might have for placement mounting/stands....

Sealed Statement or Modified Statement Questions

As many of you may know, I have just finished building some Statement Monitors and a 2RCC. I love the speakers and certainly have no complaints. However, after seeing the aesthetics of the 2RCC I am finding myself wanting to build something with more drivers for my mains. I would build the regular...

Breaking with modern conventions - a highly musical 2-way system using an 8" woofer
        by theSven
        By Jon Hancock

This article will describe the fruits of my efforts to build a moderate sized speaker which might be moderately above average in performance for a basic two-way system. I desired a speaker like this both for my own use in secondary systems, and to fill a need for some friends, who desired fairly full range response (i.e., “it’s gotta have good bass”). Also, though I have access to a good wood shop, many potential DIY enthusiasts may not, so I hoped to use a modified...

I also posted this in the AVS Forum, but would like to get as much information as possible. So, I thought I would post here as well.
