    Cooling my Entertainment System

    Has anyone installed an electric fan in the rack?

    I was thinking about installing a small fan on the top back of my rack to exaust some heat. I had thought about rigging up a 120mm PC case fan to a small 12v power supply but thought I would see what others have done.

      um...

      no rack.

      But you absolutely could do this, if the rack has directed airflow already. if it's just a big open rack it may not help too much. Fans only help when there is a distinct path for the air to follow. Often, systems designed to simply cool themselves via convection and the physics of heat do not lend themselves to fan installation.

      Never hurts to try either.

      Run a handful at 5-8V for really quiet operation.
