    Floor standing version

Any suggestions for a floor standing version of this design?

I am thinking of about 50" tall with down firing port as Jon has suggested in other threads. The tweeter would be at ear level. The idea would be to use a powered sub below 50 Hz or so for HT use.

Maybe a cloumn about 10" X 10" and 50" tall would do it. But what problems would be encountered with such a tall skinny design? What should be done to offset cabinet resonances and other anomalies from the extreme design?

What would the ideal box volume and vent frequency for such a design?

    Thanx

    :-)

    Unfortunately we're not mindreaders.

But I think you hit the new thread button instead of the reply button ....

If so repost to the thread where your question belongs and I'll delete this one...

Well, let's see. Some things can be said without having a clue what the original is.

Baffle width should remain unchanged from the original.

Driver layout shoudl remain the same relative to the TOP.

Any edge treatment should remain the same.

Width and depth should NOT be the same - you reinforce standing waves that way, and that's bad.

Box volume should remain the same as the original.

Port frequency and dimensions would not change from the original design - if you down-fire, tweaking of length would be required. If the original was sealed, it's a matter of understanding WHY and whether the drivers would like ported. From there, you'll have to do your own calculations on box volume and port tuning frequency. The above rules DO NOT CHANGE.

You guys can't figure all this stuff out without having a clue about the original? :P

They construct a box under the loudspeaker. Now they have a large box. Simply, yes? __________________ - Would mean shoes benotigen oil

Mr Smiley appears to be a troll, since he started another thread with the same post that begin this one. That thread is deleted and this one's going to sleep......
