Is there any problem with using speaker stands made out of steel? I know Jon said avoids ferrous binding posts. Is it just an issue in the signal path or is iron anywhere near the crossover a problem?
Steel Speaker Stands

My concern was in the signal path. I use some steel stands (got 'em from AudioAdvisor), but it's a good idea to get ones that support putting sand in the tubes, as otherewise they're kind of resonant. Since my crossovers aren't usually at the bottom of the speaker anyway, no problem. If a stand has a broad steel plate, and you have the crossover on the bottom, AND your enclosure wall is relatively thin, there COULD be an interaction and change in the inductance values. Nothing a thick phone book wouldn't cure, I'd imagine....
