    GR-research AV2 and Exodus Audio Kit61...

Together in my living room...lol Just putting the kit61s through the paces :T I'm doing a side by side demo against my AV2s. Not sure which one is better Although I will say the Kit61 does have lower bass. I will break in the kit61s a bit more to see if the sound changes (I doubt it). I also have the kit41s in the same room. I may have to hook up all three pairs.

Well I spent a couple more hours with them now. As of right now they are still hooked up. The kit61s do sound different than the av2s. I think the two main differences are in the lowend output and the tweeter. The kit61s have a bit more "sparkle" or "air" as some call it. The av2s on the other hand seem to be a little more laid back or warm sounding. The imaging is pretty much spot on with both and very similar. Its really a toss up or personal preference. I don't really want to say one is better than the other cause both are internet direct but in the end I may keep the kit61s only cause I want larger mains (mainly the kit LCR) and use the kit61s as rears.

The main reason for the little experiment was to see adire's extremis and CSS's 4.5" wide range driver. I may try my hand at my own designs in the upcoming months and need some basis of comparison. Just gathering info I guess

How's the senstivity compare on these designs? Neither midwoofer is particularly sensitive- focus was on linearity, of course.

        Hello Jon,
I think the av2 are rated at 91db sensitivity and the kit61 are about 88db from the website. I would say that the pair of av2s is about 10db(using the reciever's volume) more sensitive for some reason. the av2s are also 4ohm and the extremis design is 8 ohm. I am using a seperate amp which I think is pretty much a requirement for both speakers IMO. The 4 ohm load of the av2s and if one were to run the extremis fullrange would cause me to question the reciever's ability to power the speakers sufficiently.

I think for the modest builder(newbie) both kits offer good performance for the $$. I am tempted by some of your designs though. I think the next speaker I put together may be one of yours lol.
