    2 DIY subs for music

Would like to create bass modules for use with mini monitors... They are intended to be located with the monitors. Want deep clean response, but doesn't need to be earth shattering like for HT.

Appears that making a sealed is more difficult to achieve performance desired with constraints, or I am not looking at the right drivers. Prefer 10" or dual 8" s... Have seen a side firing for 12" that may work.

Was about to pull trigger on 2 peerless 10" xls with accompanying radiators, use 2 12" diameter tubes. Stated that only need 1.24 ft^3 if using radiator. Would be a nice simple design and very easy to construct. However, started tinkering with winISD to compare subs a little and results terrified me that this could be a disaster. Seems 9 times out of 10, performance desired can only be had with large vented enclosure.

Nutshell: 2 smaller subs with may -3db at 25 hz. do not want to have to eq to make it work.

Hi Tim, if you want subs for music, and don't require terribly high output, I would use sealed subs. You should find it easier to integrate them with your speakers, and wont run the risk of 'boomy' bass.

    You should check out: http://www.sound.westhost.com/project48.htm

Good luck, have fun and happy listening.

Over the years our experience with PR based subs, has been that their performance is not as good as sealed subs or those using a port.
