Dipole woofer configuration

OK, here is another one to throw out there:

If I were to make a pair of dipole woofer boxes, each of which would have 2-4 drivers per side, would they be better off laying horizontally on the floor, vertically up and down, or does it not really matter at all? They would generally only be working in the <120Hz range.

I don't have any eperience to show it would make much difference one way or another. I'm planning some stackable enclosures that will end up looking like the woofer assemblies for Beethoven grands- 4-12" per side total. That will wind up not taking up much floor space, which is more important to me. What works best for you might be something different, depending on your available space.

I think only the height off the floor that matters. It determines at which frequency floor loading kicks in. Whether it is an issue depends on the dimensions of the box.
