    Diy killer sub. Homecinema use.

I would like to build a killer sub. I have under
construction a small homecinema, and hope to be done
with it in march. My room measure 4.6m length, 3.08m
    width, and 2.07m hight.

I am looking for complete plans for such a project.
The subwoofer I would try to compete with is the SVS
    PB12/2 ultra. Projects cost 2000$.

Any info about such a diy woofer?

Only for homecinema use, not music!

Greetings: I sent Kyle at Acoustic Visions a M.O. today - he'll return the favour in kind shortly by sending me a shiny new BP 1503 driver... (Thanks for your patience, Kyle) He (Kyle) indicated to me that the BP 1503 would work well in a 85 liter box, and ported in a 142 litre box. (I'm not doubting you Kyle, but what

      And this thread....

I'm setting up this thread to have Pete Mazz post a link to pictures of my pair of 18" Avalanche subwoofers through their entire construction. The subwoofers were designed by the Dynamic Speaker Duos themselves (Thomas and Jon) and the performance characteristics of the Avalanche 18"s, the power output from my

Avalanche 18 Subwoofer was interesting, but i looks like it is hard to get in Norway.

At this time, we can not accept international orders.

        BP1503 is also not availible.

        Any other suggestions??

Peerless XLS 12" is about 280usd in Norway. Can a couple of them be used??

The XLS are good drivers but you'd need 5 of them to equal the displacement of an Avalanche 18. In Pete's photos, that DPL12 is the same size as a Peerless 12. Chad at Ascendant said he was working on international shipping. You might want to contact him and ask about it. Chances are, even with shipping and taxes, the Avalache would be a cheaper solution.

Get the 15", not the 12's. Two of the 15" would give you almost the same output as 4 of the 12".

2 15" cost the same as 4 12" here in Norway. Would you still go for the 15"??

I am looking for amps. Crown, QSC, ... Any good diy kits?

                    Found these:

Just buy a pro amp, whatever you can get in Norway for a decent price. Any of them will work fine for sub duty.

                          Ivan,

Don't see a price for Norway, any chance you can get one of these? About 1/2 the price here of the STK you mentioned and available thruughout most of the world.

I played around with a Crown K2 over this last weekend and found it to be a quite powerful amp, it sounded pretty good too even in full range. This was the first time I had hands-on a digital amp, pro audio none the less, with my gear and it was not at all harsh as for some reason I had half expected it to be. MIght be a little on the expensive side, but really a nice amp especially for sub duty I think.
