Donald Pederson, a noted former University of California-Berkely professor, passed away on December 25, 2004. Donald was internationally recognized for his contributions to integrated circuit electronics developement and design technology.
He founded the first integrated circuit research laboratory in the 1960's, but his most well known contribution was the Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis, commonly called SPICE, which forms the foundation for almost all modern circuit analysis EDA programs, including the loudspeaker design programs like SoundEasy and LspCAD which we use for our hobby of designing speakers and their crossover networks. Berkely SPICE was developed as a freeware program available from UC in source code form, and underwent development through the 1980's with input from a variety of researches on ways to improve the program and develop more accurate models.
He is one of the giants upon who's shoulders modern electronics as we know it have been built.
