RAM that thang' H-E-L-P

Gentlemen, I am not so much the hardware geek as software, so here is my dilimma. What RAM to order.

I have 2 128 meg Pc133 SD CAS2 rams if my memory serves me correctly. My system says it supports this:

PC100/PC133 SDRAM/VCM Up to 512 meg SD ram.

Up to 1.5G when using 256MBit technology DRAM.

What should I do/get?

The board is an IWill KV-200 Athlon Thunderbird 900 mhz chip.

Please guide me to the right move. I want to maximize memory, but of course minimize cost. Thinking 1 256 meg CAS2 PC133 SDRAM. Is that the right move? Or hell, is that a valid statement? lol.

Choose your mother board brand and model and they'll identify the appropraite RAM for you.

I'd recommend going for the second one listed:

SDRAM, PC133 • CL=2 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 7.5ns • 3.3V • 32Meg x 64

I just ordered 512MB of PC2100 DDR RAM for the Athlon 1.4 system I'm building. It's a great time to buy RAM!!!

Sili, that's very exacting info! Thanx! Anybody beat that price, any perks like a date with Catherine Zeta Jones maybe?

For that price, I might order 2 sticks of 256 and sell one of my 128s. They don't have to be even now, right? This MB holds 3 sticks, isn't that correct? Tell me James, I really don't want to split this case open tonight, lol.

It looks like I am good to 1536 meg! I think I will go 2 256ss, add 1 128 of mine going to 640 meg. there's a familiar number, remember 640K? , and I have 1-128 to sell.

Believe it or not, I need this much. I run out of usable memory with 256 meg, lol.

If yours is the KV-200R it has 3 DIMM slots. You are correct, the sticks do not have to be the same size.

What sort of stuff do you do on your PC to run out of memory?

Photoshop, WS-FTP, multiple browser sessions, Homesite, Eudora email client with 20 mailboxes, ICQ, Visual basic, JBuilder Java engine/editor, Pagemaker, Flash 5.0, Microsoft Office 2000, Palm Pilot software, Flash card reader, . Need I say more? lol.

All adobe products are HUGE hogs.

Now is definately the time to load up since prices are rock bottom.

In looking around I would have to say that the pricing from Crucial is the best I have seen. Even with the exchange and duties I don't think I could get it any cheaper.

2 gigs here we come.
