    Maxtor 100 GB USB Drive

Just wanted to let y'all know about a decent deal I ran into tonight. I was in Best Buy earlier and picked up a Maxtor 100GB external drive (USB) for $79. $99 with a $20 in-store coupon.

Wow, that's pretty impressive from a cost standpoint.

Is it just USB or is Firewire included as well?

    Best regards,

    Azeke

P.S. Glad to see you're Ok. David.

I made a 250GB Western Digital USB external drive for $60 when I was all said and done... Sometimes it's better to buy the case itself and throw in any drive you want (plus you can keep throwing drives in), Maxtor and WD and the rest of them make it so it's extremely difficult to get the drives out.

Nope, just USB - no firewire.

I just got a 320 GB 7200 RPM OEM HD off Newegg for $121 shipped after $15 mail in rebate. I've got an external case to throw it in already, but I plan to use it to store DVDs to run through my media PC.

This is a dumb question but when you throw the drive in a case, what do you use for a connection if has just the ATA or SATA style connection? This sounds like a much more cost effective way of adding storage than just an external only drive.

Cases are available with either IDE (ATA) or SATA interfaces inside the case. You connect your drive to this interface when you install it inside the case. Then you connect the case to your PC with USB or FW, depending on what the case gives you on the outside.

Thank you, just sounded difficult I guess.
