Well I finally got to install some Starglas today! I had been looking forward to trying this cool stuff out and although this wasnt the ideal situation to do it, I am happy with the results. We hung 3 69" wide panels from a 24' ceiling in a church. The InFocus projectors throwing VGA from a PC didnt look too bad. I can only imagine what HD would look like. In the fully lit room, it was plenty bright and they go up rather easily once you know what youre doing and have the right stuff. (suction cups are a necessity). Hopefully we get some resedential referrals from the install. I want to see what a large panel can do with proper gear and source material.
1st Starglas install report.

Its a dual pane glass panel with a reflective layer between that projects the image. It is virtually impervious to ambient light and it Class 2 safety rated so you can install it basically anywhere you want. People are framing them in as windows to use for outdoor screens, etc.....

That's cool news. I have a Stewart mircoperf Grayhawk screen, and they have some interesting products.
It would be great to see some pictures. 8)
I'm also curious how much the Starglas panels cost?- Bottom

Comparable to other fixed screens, they are in the same ballpark I think. These 69" wide panels retail for $2750 or so. I will get some good pics. I took some crappy ones with my phone, but I am sure to go back.

Interesting, I'm trying to fully understand the product. It is essentially a rear projection screen encased in glass? So I assume that with the projector turned off, it looks just like that... a screen encased in glass?

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

It is basically just that. Its not transparent like a window, but is a translucent piece of safety glass. Dual pane with the screen material sandwiched between. About 3/8" thick total. Stewart sells a frame for it if you want to put it on a wall with a hole behind it. Or you can have it built into a window and installed like any other window in the house. Its pretty flexible as far as where and how you can install it. I am not sure how it would fare exposed to outdoor elements. The optical coating on the viewing side seems fragile as Stewart recommends not touching it ever..not even with your fingers. And you cant use any cleaners or abrasives on it. A soft towel and MILD detergent is the correct way to clean it. Maybe if you added another layer of something in front of it for outdoor use? Not sure. But its pretty slick.- Bottom

Huh. Yeah, neat idea. You'd just have to make sure that you have some sort of space built behind it for the projector, too, with enough throwing distance.

Yeah. When they did the demo in our store they used a Runco with a short throw lens and it was maybe 48" throw? You can also use mirrors as with any RP setup.- Bottom

by Patrick SunI liked the 1st half or so (the production values of what life might look like in the year 2054), but the 2nd half was dull, plodding, boring, and predictable (it should be a precrime to make a movie this dull for its conclusion).
I'll admit that there was some funny scenes/lines in...-

by JonMarshTalk about slow work takes time! I'm just now getting around to putting this together and getting it operational, after having purchased the QNAP HS-210 in November 2014!
Why the QNAP HS-210? Well, for better or worse, I got it in my head that I wanted a smallish low profile NAS setup,...-
