It's pretty amazing to see the full 1080p projectors available for under $4000, but even more amazing to see how that has driven down the prices of native 720p projectors.
The two that have recently caught my attention are the Mitsubishi HD1000U and the Optoma HD70.
Both are native 1280 X 720p DLP projectors, and both cost less than $1000.
The Optoma HD70 just nips under that price point at $999 (street price) and offers 1000 lumens and 4000:1 contrast. :T
And Mitsubishi just lowered the MSRP on it's HD1000U from $1499 to $999, with the best street price that I've seen being $876, and the specs being 1300 lumens and 2500:1 contrast.
Only a year ago a 720P projector with these specs would have cost from $3K to $7K+.
I cannot say anything about the picture quality of these projectors, but for the price I'd say that they will likely entice a great many people who would have never considered a front projector before. :B
