FP bulb life complaining & question - Infocus 7205

Well, its actually a Toshiba TDP-MT800 OEM'd from Infocus. Real nice picture when the bulb is usable... In ~18 months I'm now ordering my 3rd lamp at almost $500 a pop. OUCH!! After reading thru a lot of posting, I'll work on adding some additional protection. I ceiling mounted the projector, dropped down about 12" from the finished ceiling; power goes thru a surge protector. I'm thinking I'll run a line from the UPS to the surge to the projector. Our power stinks here, probably average 3 complete drops per month. I'm constantly resetting clocks on the digitial appliances. (Projector is usually not on during the day when the non-power company drops the electric)
Anyway, was wondering if anyone knows of where I might buy the actual bulb instead of the entire lamp assembly? I'm hoping that might be a little cheaper. My first lamp had about 700 hours, the current lamp has 978 hours, and the picture is dimming and the msg "replace bulb" shows. Most of the life ratings show about 2,000 hours, but I'm now seeing some at 1,500 hours. No where near what I get!

I have a couple of Infocus projectors, they do NOT like power failures.
I actually am careful to put them in standby for awhile to keep the fan running before I shut them off.
I have replaced just the bulb and used the same mounting shell, it will save some.
Get that wattage number and type from a dead one and try googling.
I take chances with ebay looking for machines with broken lenses, bad PSU, etc, and have scored useable bulbs for $30.
I also did some crossreferencing to see what other machines used my bulb in a different shell. Also, there is a protection fuse on the shell that I'm looking at, it's .1A and reports back to the power supply.

I don't get it, how can you guys keep dumping so much money into these things? If you look at previous posts you will see a consistent pattern of failures on Infocus, their stuff is just garbage. I mounted my CRT projector 3 years ago and have done zero repairs to it, still as sharp and bright as the day I put it in.

        That certainly seems excessive.

Are you touching the bulb when you perform the lamp replacement?

Have you contacted Infocus tech/warranty support?

You may also want to consider another brand of FP, $500.00 will certainly put you well on your way.

        Peace and blessings,

lamp counter has exceeded lamp life hours

Okay now. I have an Infocus 4805, which I bought in August of 2004.
I went to turn it on last night, but the LED blinked twice, no picture.
I looked up the error code this morning, it is:

The lamp counter hours have exceeded lamp life hours. Replace the lamp and reset the...

          Poor Infocus 4805 Lamp Life
          by toohighpsi
Well I was really happy with the performance of my 4805 untill a couple days ago. I've had the projector for about 10 months and while my kids were watching a movie the other night the lamp exploded. (it was nothing short of an explosion either, I heard it from the second floor and it's mounted in the...

Bad bulb or ballast in PJ?
          by wildfire99
I've got a problem that hopefully someone can help me shed some light on.

I have an NEC HT1000 that's worked flawlessly for a few years now, with less than 400 hours on the lamp (it sat in storage for a while). I pulled it out of storage, and it wouldn't fire the lamp. I pulled the lamp,...

Except you three eyed monster owners, who may now take a short moment to gloat.

A coworker spoke to a contact at Ushio at the recent LDI convention in Las Vegas (stage and theatrical lighting products trade show) about the previously discussed UHP lamp shortage. He indicated this issue...

          Infocus 4805

I have been very pleased with my Infocus 4805, but recently I noticed that the upper left corner of the image had a shaded area. The color was still good , but there that area of the screen was noticeably less bright. I also noticed that on power up before the lamp became too bright to look at, when...
