Unless someone can confirm that the LED version is going to come out imminently, I'm purchasing the 5087W. My girlfriend can't go any longer without a HDTV. LOL

(FWIW, the last time I had checked, Samsung has pulled all references and press releases re: the LED model (HLS5679W)).

I just pulled the trigger on the HLS5087W.

My dealer says that he's receiving them "this week," and once he does, he's going to ship one of those bad boys to my place. Muahhhhhhh . . . . .

id say the new samsungs are a distant second from what i have seen

BUT the fair measurment would be with a true 1080p source
it will be popular with gamers as it doesnt seem to have any lag that the sony can introduce

I only saw UHP based product this week at Best Buy and Circuit City.
I posted some thoughts on a separate thread about the LED-DLPs.

Regarding the new TVs, I noticed some differences other than the resolution.

I think the most notable difference is a redesign of the cabinet. If you look at the TVs, the bezel area is super-super thin. It makes the whole look a lot cleaner. The trend this year seems to be away from the tried and true silver theme and towards a glossy or matte black.

The new Sony models also looked sharp in terms of industrial design.
One of the floor people at Best Buy said that Sony is going to lower prices this quarter - I guess that means in the next seven days!
