I picked up my season 2 Corner Gas DVD set the other day and have been enjoying watching it so far. It is a 3 DVD set with 18 episodes.
For those not familiar with this weekly 1/2 hour sitcom, it revolves around a small town in Saskatchewan aptly named Dog River. The shows pokes fun and humor at life in small rural towns, and although it could be any small town in the world, the fact that it's Saskatchewan, makes it more enduring and relatable to this Saskatchewanite.
The focal point is a Gas station and an attached restaurant called the Ruby. The cast of characters comprise of a hand full of local Saskatchewanites with the writer Brent Butts hailing out of Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Canadian actress Gabrielle Miller is a treat for eyes and really portraits a typical down to earth small town girl, even though her character in the story comes from Toronto to inherit the Ruby from her aunt.
The humor is quirky at times, and the cast of characters lovable, at least to this home boy.
