Pellegreneacoustic or Diysoundgroup waveguide for Modula MT XE & Extreme?

    Hi guys,

I'm considering building the Modula MT XE ( & hopefully a cheaper version of the Modula Extreme in future). The MCM waveguide is no longer available, but I came across pellegreneacoustic actually has a 6.5" waveguide that is listed to accept the SS D2608 tweeter - Item #: 65125. Has anyone used this waveguide before? It's very expensive but I'm wondering if the profile matches the MCM version.

On another note, diysoundgroup has the DW-62S which looks identical to the MCM, but it's only 6" diameter.

While looking for info. I found these measurements posted by Pellegrene Acoustics of various tweeters with their waveguides, these might be of interest to some of you.

I think this came up before and the purchaser found the actual guide measured very similar to the MCM. You should contact Eric H at diysoundgroup, he can tell you if they are the same. I believe they are.

If I'm not mistaken, Dave Pellegrene can frequently be found on PE Tech Talk. Though his website looks impressive. He isn't a big time manufacture or anything. He is just a DIYer like us. He's had a couple of his projects on PE catalog covers. He made a couple waveguides for himself and soon everyone on PE TT wanted some and the website was born.

I do have to mention that my preferred choice for the waveguide application now is the Jantzen one, as used in the 8" two way project that Troels Graveson designed for them. Profile is nearly identical, and it's made from BMC, very high quality.

Availability in the USA is a problem; I had to order mine from Europe.

Thanks for chiming in Jon, I will patiently await your next creation using the Jantzen waveguides, they certainty look very well crafted.

They are. Actually, I started a new system with them back in 2012, a dipole setup, the Arvo Part Picante, but haven't had time to finish... the Isiris and Wavecor Ardent intervened!

Ah, so many speakers so little time! Hope your work schedule will cool down to you enjoy things to you like. I wish my apartment could accommodate those speakers, but then my woodworking skills aren't there either. I will have to wait for your Modula Extreme series.

As an FYI for you guys looking at waveguides, I ran across an outfit that will make custom stuff out of aluminum. Here are some waveguides they did for somebodies speaker project, http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=125057.0. I believe they got started making chassis for N-Core amps, which may interest some other folks as well. http://www.aluminatisound.com/. Not sure what their prices would run, though their amp bodies don't seem to be too crazy for what your getting.
