Very sad. Leslie Nielsen, famous comedy star of many slapstick movies like "Airplane" and "Naked Gun", has died. I didn't realize he was 84. Everybody has their niche in life, and he did slapstick like nobody else could in the world. Fantastic, fantastic, stuff.

I usually pay my own small tribute by watching a film featuring a recently deceased actor or director I like. I can't decide whether Airplane or The Naked Gun would be the best tribute. If I still can't decide by this evening, perhaps I'll go in another direction and watch Forbidden Planet.

Anyone of those would be a good tribute, Paul. Neilsen was a dramatic actor first, but his deadpan seriousness made him a natural for the kind of comedy we got in Airplane and The Naked Guns flicks. He was also a Canadian, whose brother was involved in Canadian politics for many years.
You know, I was beginning to think Neilsen was the ironman. Apparently he had good health most of his 84 years. But with age comes weaker lungs and pneumonia is a well known killer of the aged.
