I finally spun my BD copy of Top Gun:Maverick last night, and really enjoyed it, even more than the original.
The story was interesting, the SFX were great, pic and sound quality were great, and they included some of the classic Harold Faltermeyer score from the original, along with a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle references to the original movie.
On top of that, this is the first disc I own with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Though, when I watched it last night, all my preamp showed was "7-channel PCM". This morning I found a setting on my BD player to tell it to mix BD interactive audio, which was causing it to decode the soundtrack and stream it, so I turned that off, and in a test spin of Maverick, I got Atmos.
I highly recommend this, especially if you enjoyed the original.
Look ma, Atmos!
