Nice job on your build, they look like the Mini Statements I built a while back

Steve,
(troublemaker)
The best thing you can do with real wood is to let it acclimate to where ever it will eventually live. Indoors hopefully. Bring it inside on stickers, lay it flat with space to air dry on all sides for at least 3 weeks. It should be stable by then. Alas, I am preaching to the choir, I've seen your work.First class !

I have been concerned about the issues with the wood as well. I've changed my process through out different projects I've had good luck with the way I made the statements and the previous 2 projects. I have had issues with some aviatrix speakers I made a few years ago out of cherry. the baffle has cracked a bit.... what a shame. but anyway I'll keep my fingers crossed..

Holy grap, those are cool!
In my neck of the woods actual walnut is very expensive wood. I would love to do something like what you have done.
I can only think about how it feels running your hands over those.
I know that walnut is not the same cost everywhere.
Saw one who build a wokbench out of it because it was cheepmand easy to get hold of...
A have to say that I'm a bit consern for you regarding wood movements and cracks.
Really hope that will not be an issue for you.

Check out my thread, I just posted some shots of the bases. With 2" speaker spikes, the bases are less than 1/4" off the carpet, so the opening in the back definitely helps!

There have been many builders that wanted a different base than I did so the bottom firing port didn't work as well for them.

I was wondering I've seen very few pictures of the stands from others builds so the plans have the bottom 3 boards with a 9 inch circle cutout I've seen a couple that have the back portion of the stand cutout to allow more airflow is that necassary or just a good idea?
They can also be rear ported too if you prefer.

I'm using the parts express 3 inch precision port. From what I can find on forums it seems the ports need to be a total of 7 inches. can anyone confirm that?
I'll post pictures of the build soon.
Cut the tube about 4" long. The tube plus the flares should be just about right. Precision Ports are a little more confusing but this should be just fine.
We're looking forward to following your build.
