    sibilance

    Hi There,

I have an x-t100 which I have been enjoying immensely. Recently, however, I have been hearing a great deal of sibilance in the voices -- whether in music or on the radio.
    Non-voiced music seems fine.

Have any of you had a similar problem -- or might any of you be able to suggest what might be causing this?

I'm wondering if it could have any thing to do with the tubes(?)

I'd appreciate any advice you might have,

if nothing else, it is a great excuse to try some tube rolling!

i believe your unit used one ECC 88 tube per channel?

this means you can use any 6DJ8, 6922, ECC88, E88CC or CV2492 tube, i believe.
    but check your manual, first.

you can get a matched set of tubes for less than $20 each just to try.

this is just one many, many places to get tubes LINK

btw, if does have a separate tube per channel, you could try removing one at a time to see if the sibilant edge you are hearing changes......

otherwise, have you checked other components in your system like the speakers?

wkhana has a good point, yep no harm in tube rolling

it seems otherwise unusual for voicing to change so rapidly otherwise. tubes are cheap indeed so why not ...
