Last week, my SSP-300 started to emit a high pitch sound and the will not power up. I unplugged it for a while to see if it would reset, but no luck. I removed to cover and determined the high pitch sounds is coming from a AC/DC power supply (the only part that is not made by Classe). I found the manufacture on the web (XP Power) and they still make the part and I can get it for about $50. I called Classe and they want about 550.00 + shipping to fix assuming it is indeed the power supply. Classe recommended I do not attempt to fix this on my own due to additional harnesses (two) needed as well as some calibrations. The other concern is the new power supply part number is SDS60UT07 and the current power supply SDS60UT07B. The "B" stands for a bracket that is attached to the power supply so it can be mounted in the SSP-300. XP Power no longer sales the "B" version of this power supply. If I go for the 50.00 option, I would have to use the existing harnesses and bracket from the old/broken power supply (assuming that is the issue). The other option I have is to buy the harnesses and power supply from Classe for about 300.00 and install myself. Any thoughts on which option I should go with? I really like the SSP-300 and it is still selling used for at least 1,000.00 so it still has some value.
HELP!! SSP-300 power supply failed (I think)

Before that choice, can you determine/test the PS to see if it is really the culprit? Many linear power supplies make audible noise that can be exacerbated by changes in the load.Kal Rubinson

I quite sure it is the PS. There is an OK green LED light on the PS that will light when functioning correctly and DC current is being output. The PS LED does not light. Also, the high pitch sound starts after the protection circuit replay clicks in to engage the PS within a few seconds after I turn on the master power switch- Bottom

I think it's worth the $50 gamble, as long as you can be confident it won't break it (why should it) then I would be trying it. The calibration is possibly to calibrate the classe board to the exact voltage from the PSU as the PSU will have a tolerance on it, or they are saying that to try and convince you you cannot fix it yourself. It may mean a dip in performance IF it's an issue. But if it is you can put it back and send back to Classe.
Hypothetically if there is a 50 percent chance of it working for less than 10 percent of the cost it's a good chance to take.

I received the PS today and confirmed it is an exact match to the existing one. I installed it and the SSP-300 powered up without issue. It even remembered my settings after being down for close to two weeks. The best part is that the performance is still great as it was before.Last edited by begood; 07 June 2017, 22:23 Wednesday.- Bottom

Hi there, I have the same problem with my SSP-300 too!
How easy is it to change the power supply in this thing....it looks like its pretty much plug and play?
Saying that, I did have this problem about 2 years ago, a specialist fixed it and it worked for a bit then stopped working as it didn't power up. Not sure if he changed the power supply to the xp one you mentioned, but I could open it up and see. What other faults could there be if the psu doesn't fix the issue....I don't really want to send it in to classe for the approx £500 fix.
Cheers
