    Pictures of your Classé gear

In great tradition of the other threads, we should start a picture thread of our Classé gear. Everyone please contribute.

One of the things I don't care for in the other picture threads is all of the comments. Sometimes it will be 4-5 posts between pictures. If we all agree, could we keep this thread to just pictures, and if we want to make comments on a persons setup, start a new thread?

I understand I can be over-ruled, but it is just a suggestion...

I'll post my pictures as soon as my new amp comes in.

Mods, can you make this a sticky? Thanks,
    Dan

okay here are 2 pictures I took with my cell phone....(girlfriend took the camera on her trip to Rome)
Plz forgive the mess, I havent set up things properly as I didnt have the time (to much work ....)
On the 1st picture you can notice that I have sound absorbing foam behind the 804S. It works! no excesive bass no more!
I have also 1.2 inches thick marble tiles under the speakers and used the rubber spikes so to isolate them from the parquet floor. That also works nice.
On the second picture you can see that my new rack is from wood (1.3 inches) and metal and each shelf has spikes.

I believe it's the 4 tier model with the optional sides and an
optional door. Door is OK, but kinda of a PITA; wife likes it
It does help keep the dust out though.

Color is walnut. The back is off until my Rotel RLC-140 power
thing comes in. No sense in putting the back on only to take it
off again in a few days.

Some of this Classe design should be in the Whitney or the Museum of Modern Art. Their industrial design is great. (It might be and I just don't know it :E )

..after the arrival of the CA-2200. I have my CP-500 and CDP-100 around the corner of the room, next to my listening chair.

Here are some long overdue images of my setup. I finally got the incentive to breakout my camera and take some pictures and post them on the Guide. My plasma display took a dive and has to go in for repair (I think for a failed video processor board). I needed to capture some shots of the display before it went in. Of course I saw this as an opportunity to snap a few more as well. :B

The first shot is from behind the couch and the second from the listening position. I'll post more soon, hopefully.

Thanks Chris. Actually, I am pretty bummed about my plasma woes. After waiting nearly six months, Sony finally releases a firmware update to the PS3 which allows 1080p/24 output (and DVD scaling) which is the only 1080p input type my display can handle. Then in less than 24 hours of enjoying the highly anticipated update my display makes a pop and looks like a mosaic rainbow of colors.

All of this happened over the weekend which totally ruined my plans for the holiday. But this is just the beginning of my problems. To top it all off I canceled the cable service were getting in the other rooms a week prior. So now we have nothing, nada, zilch, zip broadcast service of any kind. I do have an OTA antenna that I can plug into to get by on for the next couple of weeks but movies are out of order until my display comes back.

sell the CDP-300, now that the PS3 does 1080p/24, move the ssp/CP to that side and you free up the middle. Put the sub in its spot. I know, may not be ideal asthetically, but who cares! Then you will have room for the HTM1D in the center!!!!!!

Im also wondering if for average viewing/music listening, if you don't use the sub, you could just put it behind something, and when you watch a movie, have a predetermined place to the left that you pull it out? when you watch regular tv, you probably arent even using the sub anyways... but you are using the center... you know the news is dying to be heard through the monster center!!!!

Thanks for the kind words nicky. I guess it was one of those rare moments of being at the right place and the right time. As nice as the 800D are I still miss the 803S I had before. They worked much better with the HTM3S, that I still have, for home theater. But it wasn't like I didn't expect some discontinuity between the 800D and HTM3S, I did. I had only hoped that it was going to be something more tolerable than it turned out to be. Which is why I am running with a phantom center and a subwoofer in between the mains.

Speaking of subs, it is a common misconception that placing one subwoofer between the LR speakers results in poor performance. Dr. Floyd O'Toole and his team of acousticians at Harmon International Laboratories (parent company of the renowned Revel Loudspeakers), conducted an extensive case study on the subject of optimal number and placement of subwoofers.

According to their research it made little difference weather one subwoofer was located in the corner, off to one side or in the middle. Of course the results of their study started with a few assumptions including room size, geometric shape and the goal to optimize the low frequency response for a given area. But given the time that I have already invested in locating the best place for a solitary sub in my space I would conclude Dr. O'Toole's research accurate.

Note: You can find the published white paper discussing the matter here.

I finally got the incentive to breakout my camera and take some pictures and post them on the Guide. My plasma display took a dive and has to go in for repair (I think for a failed video processor board). I needed to capture some shots of the display before it went in. Of course I saw this as an opportunity to snap a few more as well. :B

We have been in this home for several years now (I think this is the tenth year). When the house was built a wall stood where the entertainment center is now. When I added on the nook a few months later (the original track home builder couldn't/wouldn't do it) it was with the intension that a large screen RPTV be fitted to the space. A time when widescreens and plasma displays were a distant afterthought. Fortunately, the space was large enough to accept the 60" Pioneer originally occupied by the RPTV and room for three Classe' Delta sized amplifiers. I didn't have the foresight to plan it that way it just worked out. The top shelf used to house all of my previous (Rotel) equipment and other electronics now long gone.

Thanks again for the nice wishes Shadow, although I am still very envious of your system's uniform front soundfield for HT. My entertainment nook maybe great for amps and displays but it's not so accommodating for centers. :P
