    Parts Express

Does anyone know what is up with their website and when it might come back up?

I thought waiting a few days it would be back up already, but its been a while. (5 days I think)

I was hoping to order some speakers before they went back up to normal price.

Interesting. Are you able to get on their website now? I just tried and it hasn't worked for me since last Saturday. I've tried multiple times each day.

Sounds like it wasn't working for Ling either.

I've tried deleting all my temporary internet files and I still can't pull up their website. Anyone have any suggestions? Out of all the computer problems I have encountered this might be right up there at the top.

It was down the other day (just the main page). Should work if you shift-refresh, or clear your cache/cookies.

Thanks for the help, but that doesn't work either. Tried the other computer in the office and I'm having the same issues with it as well. Just strange how I was using my wife's laptop at a friends house to access the site last Saturday when it just stopped working and hasn't worked for me since on my friends network or my own.

try hitting http://www.parts-express.com/home-audio-video.cfm directly... it could be the front page again...

I've done all the normal proceedures and still nothing. So I called My internet supplier and he checked it to be a problem on PE's hosting service. Rogers has contacted them about this issue and I should hear tomorrow.

                                Sounds like a DNS issue.

Hmmm... I couldn't access it for a day, a couple days ago, looked at a couple of "internet weather report" sites and saw some routers slow in the Wisconsin and Ohio areas... which shouldn't have been a total outage. Since then, no problems. Sounds like a particular, local problem with a router between you and them, the branch you're on doesn't know how to get there. Yep, DNS, but accessing the direct IP number should have fixed that... Weird...

The internet isn't perfect, we just expect it to be. Most of the time it pulls off a pretty good imitation of it.

I assume for most people who still can't connect that it is a DNS issue. I've been able to access it since Tuesday. If you don't know what DNS servers are then I sugguest you call your ISP and complain. If you do know what they are, try a different one. If that doesnt fix it, call your ISP and complain. Its pretty ridiculous to not have access to a web page when others of us have been able to access it within less than 24 hours of when it went down.

                                        Good luck everyon.

If you can't but really need to access their site just go here and put in their URL: http://www.axtt.info/index.php

Works for me until they fixed the problem.

Sorry Javier. You really get screwed down there.

Since it was down for me but is now back up, I'm guessing the problems are being worked on. Patients. Maybe an email to customerservice@parts-express.com may help.

Thanks for the continued help guys, but nothing here seems to work.

I'm just curious, for those who cannot connect to the PE website where do you live?

I'm going to email PE and reference this thread if that is ok.

PE has my email and I'm sure many others. I'm not impressed that they have not informed me of the problem or when they expect it to be resolved. I received a sales flyer so I assume their email is working. Our company also has a website which is backed up on multiple servers and if there is a hint of service interruption, our customers are notified immediately.

In Windows, open a DOS window (start - programs - accessories - command prompt) and type tracert URL where URL is the address you want to trace.

If, for any hop, you get a * instead of a return time in ms, it means it didn't get a return from that hop and that may be where the problem is.

A single * along the route out of three tries is no big. What browser are you guys running? I tried Firefox and IE6 and, while it's slow to load like always, it eventually loads. What kind of error message does your browser give you if any?

Well that means the problem isn't DNS and it isn't a low level networking issue. One other thing you can try open a DOS prompt and type this:

                                                                                      telnet www.partsexpress.com 80

(At this point you should get a new blank window type this

                                                                                      GET http://www.partsexpress.com HTTP/1.0

                                                                                      (Hit enter twice)

If you get back any text then the problem is your browser, if you don't get back text then something weird is happening when you connect from your machine to the partsexpress website (but only on port 80).

If you are using windows vista you may need to install telnet first (try here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...sked-questions)

Here is my example (note I did this from unix so your results could be a little different)
