As some will know, all my X-10 modules stopped working when I installed a whole house surge supressor. And unlike Mr Pratt, I'm not a wealthy guy
, so I can't afford a Lutron system.
What to do? What to do? ....
On the IB forum a member needed remote switching for their power amp. Someone suggested the La Crosse Technology RS-204U-CS. Now it doesn't offer the flexibility of the Lutron or X-10 systems. This means it doesn't dim or offer hardwired box mounted switching, etc. The remote control simply toggles On/Off whatever device is plugged into the remote outlets. Each remote outlet can handle up to 30 amps or 3600 watts
The unit has an operational range of ~80', it operates on a wireless frequency of 433MHz.
A single remote can operate an unlimited number of outlets on each of 4 separate channels. Multiple remotes can control one or more outlets. Each remote has a master On/Off switch that will control all outlets at once.
Price of admission is $40 for one remote and 2 outlets.
I have one of these systems on order. I'll will update this thread when the unit arrives and I start using it.
