BB nailed it. You do NOT want to use any bulb in a projector other than the specific model that it has been designed for. If the cost and/or availability of the bulb is an issue, maybe it would be a good idea to look for a different projector with a less expensive and/or more readily available bulb.
I'm faced with the dilimma right now that the replacement cost of the bulb for my six-year-old LCD projector is about as much as the whole projector is worth on the used market. Add the cost of a needed repair and it makes sense to just get a new projector (which will come with its own new bulb, of course).
Good luck -

Projector lamps come as lamp assemblies, premounted into a reflector/housing. You can sometimes get thelamp assembly from more than one manufacturer with differing prices, but in general, there is no way to use any "substitute" lamp. The projector's optics, power supply and cooling considerations are all designed around the original lamp, and something is almost certain to go awry if your try to shoehorn something else into it.

LCD projector bulb question
I am looking into buying an "ELECTROHOME EPS 800" lcd projector. It works fine except it's missing a bulb. Im wondering, if there is anyway i can use a different lamp for the projector somehow.
I know that u need a certain connector for it to hook up to the lap, but maybe thers some way of stripping it down and hook up a CHEAPER bulb to it?
If anyone knows anything about what im asking, please give me some advice because have about a week to tell the guy if im going to buy it off him or not.
thank youTags: None- Bottom
