I would imagine Rotel Amplified Processor. No tuner, so not a receiver.

Hopefully they will also get around to updating the RSP-1572 with a replacement too.

A tuner is obsolet! Analog Radio at home is almost inexistent in today's homes and digital music stream is available elsewhere (Streamer, Blurayplayer...). Seams like Rotel is back in A/B amplification (visible heatsinks). Anyway, Kevin:

A headphone output und the HDMI drop out issue are the main Points to be recognized. The EQ is already superb, still an expanded DSP-section with adaptable highpassfilter to suit the rooms limitations (avoiding first roommode in small rooms for example would be of interest.

I think that will be announced as well. Have heard that the HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 upgrade for the 1582 is coming in September.

Another thought... how definite is the November launch date... as I recall the RSP1582 was 6 months or more later than the promised launch date...

Here's the most current information on the Rotel RAP-1580 from Crowne Audio's website (www.croweaudio.com).

Rotel RAP-1580 7.1.4 Integrated Surround Amplifier Processor

RAP-1580 is the ideal home theater solution for those who don’t have space for separate components, yet still desire uncompromising performance. It is an ultra-high-performance multichannel, integrated amplifier with surround processing that brings music and movies to life in a startlingly vivid way. Sporting the latest HDMI2.0a hardware and Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 processing, its amplifier section is built upon a powerful linear design with 7 x 100 watts per channel, all channels driven into 8 ohms, anchored by a massive Rotel-made toroidal transformer. While it may be compared to ordinary AVRs, it really is in a class by itself. Please hook it up to your best speakers in stereo and listen for yourself. RAP-1580 utilizes high performance Wolfson 24bit/192kHz DACs for all channels. These low noise, audiophile quality DACs are supported with premium-grade audio parts in circuits tuned by Rotel’s acoustic engineering team in the U.K. Inputs include 8 x HDMI video inputs with 2 x HDMI video outputs all supporting 4K video, with 3 of these inputs and both outputs enabled with HDCP 2.2. There is a seven-inch TFT display on the front panel to provide easy adjustments to all audio and video parameters without the need to turn on the television or video projection system. This makes it ideal for set-ups when the equipment rack is located separately from the video display. A full suite of integration features are also on board. Other features include a front panel HDMI input with 4K video pass-through, front panel iPod USB input with 2.1A charging and integrated APTX enabled Bluetooth technology for higher fidelity. The RAP-1580 also includes a PC-USB input supporting 24 bit / 192kHz audio, a MM phono stage input, CD input, XLR balanced input, Tuner input, AUX analog input and multichannel input. Rack mount ears are included. Rotel's RAP-1580 is simple to operate, powerful, flexible and refined. It is a state-of-the-art single chassis audio/video component that outperforms most separates. In an age of deflationary pricing, RAP-1580 lets you step customers UP to a higher quality experience. Features: 6 Wolfson WM8740 24-bit / 192KHz HiFi DACs • Analog BYPASS mode for analog inputs passes audio directly to output w/ no DSP processing • 10 band parametric PEQ • 7 rear panel and 1 front panel HDMI 2.0a inputs capable of 4K video pass-through • 2 HDMI 4K video outputs (one with ARC) • HDMI Bypass when in standby allowing the HDMI from source to TV when RSP in standby mode • OSD setup and status on front TFT and HDMI out • PC-USB supporting 24-bit/192kHz audio • Front panel USB input supporting iOS devices with 2.1A charging • Phono stage input (MM) • CD, Tuner and Aux analog inputs • Multi Channel input • XLR Balanced input • Bluetooth with aptX • 3 source independent 12V trigger outputs • Wired IR Remote input • RS-232 interface for automation system control • IP Network interface for automation system control • 2 IR Output connectors for IR pass-through • 4U cabinet • Finishes - Silver and Black • Dimensions (W x H x D) 431 x 192 x 470 mm , 17 x 7 5/9 x 18 1/2 in • Weight (net) 22.8 kg / 50.27 lbs • Rack mount included.

                        Hi Audio_EIF,

The RAP-1580 is in production, and we are in the process of finishing up the software. Things are looking good for a November launch, provided the software is bug-free. Sounded great at CEDIA last week.

                        Regards,

                        Patrick

Are there preouts for all channels or only the last four?

                            Hi Mikael,

While I can't speak for Europe, November is probably close to the correct launch month. The RAP-1580 will include Atmos and DTS:X processing. Pre outputs are included for all channels.

                            Regards,

                            Patrick

How does it sound, like an RMB-1555?

                                Hi Mikael,

At present, there is a limited degree of flexibility in assigning power amplification channels to different speakers. As an example, there will be a configuration mode where you can bi-amp the main Left and Right channels, which using the remaining amplification to finish a 5 channel system. Sound quality is excellent, however I have not directly compared it to an RMB-1555.

                                Patrick

Sounds nice. But I ment if I buy two RB-1582 for left and right front and the sides speakers. Can i then asign the internal 7 amps for the rest of the speakers in a 7.1.4 setup?

At this point no, but that might changed with a firmware update.

So just to be clear for now the 7 amps are for the normal 7 channels and then you a 5 ch amp or 2*2 ch amp for the 4 inceiling ch. And if I want to upgrade front l/r ch. I need that amp and amps for the inceiling ch.

Hello all. Does any one know how many watts per channel will be supported? I am looking at pairing this with Martin Logan Ethos and im hoping to deliver more than 100 watts to the left and right.

                                                Any help is appreciated

100 watts per channel at 8ohms.

Does that increase for 2 channel? An exmple would be the arcam avr 550. Its 90 watts per channel but the litterature on their sites says...it bumps to 110 for 2 channel audio.

                                                    Thx

Not sure about two channel wattage. That's a question for Patrick Butler.

Good question about power. 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, regardless of whether you are powering 1 speaker or all 7.

Patrick.....thx. could you speak to Parametric Eq vs Room Correction. Why didnt Rotel include room correction?

Is there an advantage to Parametric eq?

                                                            Hi, peplogic......

                                                            and welcome to our forum.

                                                            your ML's have a powered sub....correct?

much of the power required to drive speakers is taken up to produce the lower frequencies.
in your case, this is working in your favor.......however......

your ML's (which i have recently heard at Capital Audiofest) are electrostats.
it is my personal experience that electrostats (which i would own if i had a listening room that would accommodate the square footage they need to perform to there potential) typically respond V well to an abundance of reserve power.

from the ML Ethos User Manual:
What size amplifier should I use?
We recommend an amplifier with 100 to 200 watts
per channel for most applications. Probably less would
be adequate for our smaller hybrids or when used in
home theater where a subwoofer is employed. Our
hybrid designs will perform well with either a tube or
transistorized amplifier, and will reveal the sonic character
of either type. However, it is important that the
amplifier be stable operating into varying impedance
loads: an ideally stable amplifier will typically be able
to deliver nearly twice its rated wattage into 4 Ohms
and should again increase into 2 Ohms

what they are saying is, to paraphrase in my own words:
                                                            • RULE# 1: there is no such thing as too much clean, distortion-free, brute power.
                                                            • RULE# 2: See Rule #1

despite the published sensitivity of 92 dB/2.83 volts/meter, they rate these as 4 ohm speakers.....that value being an average, not a constant & they will dip below that value in normal use.

to my knowledge, there are few AVR multi-channel amps that will delver the power and headroom needed to make the ML's deliver their true potential.

i suggest you consider a good quality 2-channel amp to power them.

also, do not get too hung up on published specs
typically, they are just numbers cobbled & embellished by marketing departments & seldom reflect the true actual capability of any amp. (no disrespect to Patrick whose help & information here is ALWAYS appreciated)
i have heard 300+ watt amps that hit like a flea, & 100 watt amps that smack like a nun's ruler.

as always, just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary.
