According to the RSP-1066 / RSX-1055 etc Frequently Asked Questions:Originally posted by Rotel FAQ7. My volume knob doesn't light up, should I send my unit back to Rotel?
Answer: Due to the lighting used in several photos the volume ring appears to glow however this is just the lighting reflecting back and not a feature of the product.- Bottom

I do believe the volume knob "light" is THE most referenced topic in Club Rotel, surpassing NAD comparisons, hums and buzzes, and Rotel customer service!
After all this attention, maybe they should install a light there after all.
OK, I admit it... even I thought there was one there when I bought my RA-985BX integrated many years ago....

Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring
production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.

Hi,
You know the Blue Ring was lit up - I bet this forum would be full of people complaining that it was too bright and wanting to turn it off.. We have the same thing with the RSP-1098 screen's soft gray glow which we can now turn off!!! Some people love it others wish it wasn't there...
Remember the sound is what counts...
Happy New Year

I think Rotel dropped the ball, it would be cool to have the rings glow blue...but the option to turn it off (for some people) would be nice as well...
OT: How do you turn the screen off on the 1098? Do you mean when you push the display to the main screens it turns off?Digital Audio makes me Happy.

You are so right about that, I admit. We'd have complaints after complaints. Then, Rotel would be up in their collective ***** developing a firmware revision to make it turn off instead of focusing on new product development. This would cause a delay in the introduction of new products at very important trade shows attended by very important competitors. This would sway potential Rotel buyers to purchase other brands. Rotel would see a significant decrease in sales and revenue due to their failure to reach market before others. Because of this, Rotel would go bankrupt and go out of business.
Do you see the potential repercussions?! Forget about a fancy glow light! You will kill the company!- Bottom

Will,
Many a true word spoken in jest. :T
When I think about the delay / time Rotel has spent on the releases and rereleases of firmware for the RSP-1098 screen turn-off (I have a beta now of a new version that only does that and provides variable volume control)... And then I look at the Sherwood Newcastle p-965 which has the same Cirrus DSP chip and now has firmware upgrades for Automatic Room Calibration and Parametric Equalisation... I hope Rotel has aome good suprises for us all at the CES..
